Loving The Bible

Job 23:12: Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Psalms 1:1-2: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Psalms 119:14: I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.

Psalms 119:47: And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.

Psalms 119:92: Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.

Psalms 119:97: O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

From Devotions & Prayers of Charles H. Spurgeon:

When Mr. Hone, who wrote the *Everyday Book,* was travelling through Wales, he stopped at a cottage to ask for a drink of water, and a little girl answered him, *Oh yes! Sir, I have no doubt mother will give you some milk if you like. Come in.* He went in and sat down. The little girl was reading her Bible. Mr. Hone said, *Well, my little girl, do you find reading that a task?* *No, sir,* she replied, *it is no task to read the Bible; I love the Bible.* *And why do you love the Bible?* said he. Her simple, childlike answer was *I thought everybody loved the Bible.* Her own love of the precious volume had made her innocently believe that everybody else was equally delighted to read God*s Word. Mr. Hone was so touched with the sincerity of that expression, that he read the Bible himself, and instead of being an opponent to the things of God, came to be a friend of divine truth.

Do you love the Bible and do others know that you do?
